DAMACENO: lectura + danza. August 30, 2026

30 August: the sea misplaces its own alphabet

El mar llega temprano. Nosotros llegamos después.

On Sunday, August 30, at 7:00 p.m., Jorge Rivero will read fragments from Damaceno — new novel published by Kóokay Ediciones—a book assembled from memory, salt, ruins, desire and the stubborn grammar of the Yucatán coast.

Mientras tanto, I will perform instant dance.

No choreography. No proof. A body negotiating with sentences in real time, as if commas had knees and silence preferred bare feet.

Reading. Dance. Ruin. Coconut. Wave. Zapato. Gaviota. Etcétera.

Perhaps the novel will read us.

Perhaps the dance will forget me.

Perhaps the sea has been editing us all along.

We’ll gather at Tapanco Centro Cultural (Calle 47 × 68, Centro). Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Admission is free.

Bring your ears. Bring your spine. Leave certainty at the shoreline.

Damaceno. Danza instantánea. Una tarde donde las palabras se mueven y los cuerpos leen.

Perhaps the palm tree has already bought a free ticket.
